Black Swan has been awarded the TOP position in the Sunday Times Sage Start-Up Track 15 list, it was announced on Sunday 15th November 2015.

We are delighted to announce Black Swan has been placed at the TOP of the inaugural Sunday Times Sage Start-up Track 15.

It is a huge honour to be included – Black Swan started in 2011, alongside 440,600 new startups and to think we are now at the top is a huge achievement for us and our CEO, Steve King.

Closely following success in the 2014 Sunday Times Tech Track Ones to Watch, this accolade comes after a year of growth, hard work and development for Black Swan. We have expanded to include Black Swan Innovation and a financial sector division, Black Swan Edge as well as developing our Nest platform for licensing and a visual saliency software, Dragonfly, launching next week.

Steve King, CEO Black Swan says: “When we started the business 4 years ago it was because we felt there had to be a better way for businesses and brands to make use of the mass of data available to them.  Data is largely irrelevant unless you can harness its power effectively.  So we are absolutely delighted to have been recognised at the top of this prestigious list; it’s a great acknowledgement for all our people and all our clients who have seen such value in the way we work to transform the way data can be used.

“We have built our business on our robust and intelligent NEST platform that consolidates public and commercial data sources to allow our scientists to apply predictive forecasting for our clients – these help them make better business decisions.”

Companies were ranked according to their annual growth in sales over two years, based on their latest figures. Such is the nature of this award the same company cannot be included twice, so it will be onwards and upwards for Black Swan – who knows which list we’ll appear on next year!?

Steve King has worked in tech & data science, man & boy. He puts it down to playing with an abacus from an early age in the depths of Wales, with precious else to do. Now he’s all grown up and as CEO spends his days leading our flagship accounts – zipping regularly from the UK to the US West Coast. He’s one of Black Swan’s founders, citing his sources of inspiration as Nate Silver, standing atop the Gower Peninsular and delivering game changing insights for his clients.
